I seriously want to get the surgery done, probably in about 2-3 years, when I’m around 19-20 years old, but I wanted to know when a good time to get it.

AND NO, I never needed an eye surgery. I would say don’t get discouraged and hope for the best. Even eating causes alot of diseases, it does not mean that we should stop eating.
