Thinking of getting laser LASIK eye surgery in the UK, who would you recommend and why?

Posted on 5th February 2012 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

Seriously considering LASIK eye surgery and have already been for a consultation at Optical Express, but was wondering what fellow Yahoo-ers experience of UK based "high street" companies like Optical Express, Optimax and Ultralase are? Thanks!

Well if your prescription had been getting worse at a steady rate in recent years then expect that to continue. Laser eye surgery doesn’t fix your eyes in any permanent way. its more like putting on a permanent contact lens to alter the shape of the cornea. Laser eye surgery (as with contact lenses) does not stop further deterioration in eyesight (which would have happened minus surgery.)

I was in your position and pursued the laser option with one of the names you mentioned but when i found out the blade part (cutting a slice in the cornea) i chose to back out of it.
Natural eyesight restoration can work with some people. You can try it for free as opposed to surgery. The risks and costs involved require careful consideration. I chose the natural eyesight restoration path and as a result got rid of problems such as dry eyes, ocular muscle restriction and irregular blinking. My depth perception also improved.

By the way to back up my answer i would say i dont get paid or have any obligation to promote one side of the arguement. Im just aware of the different options out there and will talk straight with you

PS
Adrienne’s answer is just promoting the services her company offer. She has made this obvious by stating in her profile that she is the actual manager of the company. Note also the posting of the company’s website in her answer.

What is the best eye [laser] surgery in London, UK?

Posted on 6th December 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

I’m looking for a professional eye laser surgery in London. I don’t mind to spend more money what I want is the quality of service, If anyone have done any quality eye laser surgery and if its been successful in the long term please tell me where did you do your surgery. I would appreciate your answers.
Can you tell me how much do London Vision Clinic charge for the surgery? I heard it costs around £5.000 to do the surgery from some youtue show. If you know the price, let me know. I’d be greateful. Thanks.

I had laser eye surgery in Niagara Falls, canada at Lasik Provision. My surgery was about 12 years ago and my vision is 20/20 to date. This procedure changed my life! I can’t recommend this procedure enough and I hope that you cangive yourself the gift of sight. In the UK I would highly recommend The London vision clinic and have Dr. Dan Reinstein do your surgery. He is a great surgeon and he has such a good repuation in the UK. He has done many procedures and is always doing clinical studies and research. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions about the process of the surgery please contact me. If you even come to Niagara Falls I would highly recommend Dr. Andrew Taylor. He is golden in my books.

Laser Eye Surgery, whos best in UK?

Posted on 26th November 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

I am considering getting laser eye surgery, but im not sure who to go with. I have had consultations from Optimax and Ultralase

Optimax are a lot cheaper, I have seen mixed reviews about them
Ultrlase seem more professional, but cost a lot more, is it worth the extra money?

If you have had treatment from either of these please let me know what it was like

How much does it cost eye laser or simple surgery for my eyes in UK?

Posted on 13th November 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

I have -3:-3,5 description for my eyes. I wanted to know the approximate price for the surgery of my eyes.I know that to have an exact price I need to first have a consulation with the surgeon and all that. But what i want to know is the approximate price if anyone here knows or done the surgery before. And do you think laser surgery is safe? Your answers will be appreciated.
I
@Robert Thanks for your information. I definately check it out.

I had laser eye surgery in Niagara Falls Canada, and I paid $2000(canadian) per eye. The thing with laser eye surgery you will find clinics that offer quotes as low as $399 per eye. Sometimes you have to watch that price because it is the bait and switch to get you into the office. I’m not saying that you may not be but that price is usually for low prescriptions, thick corneas and small pupils. You want to go where the technology is current and the surgeon is very experienced and the medical staff to support both. I know the London Vision Clinic is outstanding and they go over and above for their patients. Dr. Dan Reinstein is outstanding and I believe he charges about $2,200 pounds. If you ever come to Canada please come to Lasik Provision. Dr. Andrew Taylor is amazing and he truly cares about his patients. He goes the extra mile.

No. You would need to study medicine and become an opthamologist.

what age do you have to be to get laser eye surgery in the UK?

Posted on 1st September 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

While there may be minimum age to legally have the surgery, there’s another aspect to this.

You need to be finished growing and your prescription has to be stable. They’re not going to do the surgery if you’re still having significant changes in your vision, since it would be dumb to have the surgery, have your eyes change on you, and then need glasses again.

laser eye surgery costs and other things?

Posted on 8th August 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

hi there
i am considering laser eye surgery with ultra-lase, i want to know:
how much is it going to roughly cost (short sighted i have to wear glasses to drive UK)
does it hurt
and how long does it last
whats the likely hood of it going wrong

No it doesn’t hurt at all! You go in, they put anesthetic drops in your eyes and you don’t feel a thing! It lasts just a few minutes…healing is painless and recovery very fast.
Here is a step-by-step description of the intervention procedures:
http://www.appiotti.it/eng/lasik-surgery.asp
You will have to have some preliminary tests done to see if you are a good candidate for lasik. If you are, go ahead do it! Lasik surgery has improved my quality of life.

any help or advice on laser eye sugery?

Posted on 22nd July 2011 by admin in laser eye surgery uk

Hi there,
I’m 20 years old with quite bad eyesight and currently wear contact lenses. I’ve been saving up for Laser Eye Surgery and will be able to afford it within the next few months, I’ve not yet been for a free consultation because not sure which UK Laser eye surgery is the best , there’s Optical Express , Optimax , Specsavers, so many more but not sure which is the best. Also which laser treatment is the best , I have about £800-£1000 saved , would this be enough? Also , any information or advice on laser eye surgery would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Hi, I’m about to have laser surgery too. I chose Ultralase as they were recommended by my optician and my friend used them. They are the only company operating in the UK who publish all their (independently verified) results. They will turn you away if there is any doubt about the long term success. The price is fully inclusive, whereas other "cheaper" providers don’t include aftercare in their price (which potentially exceeds the cost of the original treatment).

Don’t worry about what treatment option is the best. The optometrists and consultants decide what will work best for you and they’ll refuse to do anything else. I was switched to a more expensive option, but my friend was switched to a cheaper one.

£1000 is nowhere near enough, expect to spend about £2000 per eye and possibly more. Ultralase offer interest free credit and I suppose other providers do too - but beware any credit and be sure you can manage it. It doesn’t cost anything to go and find out about it. Ultralase don’t do a hard sell so you won’t feel you have to take it further if you don’t want.
