Seriously considering LASIK eye surgery and have already been for a consultation at Optical Express, but was wondering what fellow Yahoo-ers experience of UK based "high street" companies like Optical Express, Optimax and Ultralase are? Thanks!

Well if your prescription had been getting worse at a steady rate in recent years then expect that to continue. Laser eye surgery doesn’t fix your eyes in any permanent way. its more like putting on a permanent contact lens to alter the shape of the cornea. Laser eye surgery (as with contact lenses) does not stop further deterioration in eyesight (which would have happened minus surgery.)

I was in your position and pursued the laser option with one of the names you mentioned but when i found out the blade part (cutting a slice in the cornea) i chose to back out of it.
Natural eyesight restoration can work with some people. You can try it for free as opposed to surgery. The risks and costs involved require careful consideration. I chose the natural eyesight restoration path and as a result got rid of problems such as dry eyes, ocular muscle restriction and irregular blinking. My depth perception also improved.

By the way to back up my answer i would say i dont get paid or have any obligation to promote one side of the arguement. Im just aware of the different options out there and will talk straight with you

PS
Adrienne’s answer is just promoting the services her company offer. She has made this obvious by stating in her profile that she is the actual manager of the company. Note also the posting of the company’s website in her answer.

What do you see during the procedure?
Do you feel anything?
Can you see anything?

As, you can see, there are a lot of questions going through my head about this. I am not having it done, but I am very curious about the subject Thank you!

I just had eye surgery but it was for cataract removal. The prep you for surgery and then put you in what is called, "twighlight", and you can’t really feel anything except a little water on your eye. It went pretty fast and I didn’t have any pain at all during the surgery. I had mine in the hospital and I could see some lights over head that looked colored. I was out of it but awake. They also cover your other eye and put a covering over. Later I was wheeled out and I felt fine. There was no patch involved.

Surgery is not required and you can wear glasses. If you do not meet the minimum standard vision wise you will not be accepted, period.

Once you are in, and the Army has invested time and money into you, if your vision slips a bit you are allowed to wear glasses, if your vision deteriorates surgery is an option to bring it back in line.

I heard people experienced blurs and halos at night and eye dryness. Are those disadvantagespermanent? And how would the surgery affect a boxers career? Would a lasik-surged eye be more likely to lose good vision without returning to its normal vision than a none-surged…in other words will be my eyes and their vision more vulnerable after lasik in case I get hit?

Hi! This is from webmd:

Some patients experience discomfort in the first 24-48 hours after LASIK eye surgery. Other side effects, although rare, may include:

    * Glare
* Seeing halos around images
* Difficulty driving at night
* Fluctuating vision
* Dry eyes

You should really consult an eye doctor who specializes in lasik surgery about your questions.

I need a description of what happens before and after laser eye surgery? Example, how many hours before surgery are you allowed to eat, wear contacts, etc. How many days after surgery can a person not watch the tv or use computer? Any more details before or after that a person needs to know, the better. Details please.

The best place to get those answers from is the place you are having the surgery. Typically, most places would want you out of your contact lenses for a few weeks before the surgery and you should be able to watch tv and use a computer almost immediately after.

I don’t mind to spend more money what I want is the quality of service, If anyone have done any quality eye laser surgery and if its been successful in the long term please tell me where did you do your surgery. I would appreciate your answers.
Can you tell me how much do London Vision Clinic charge for the surgery? I heard it costs around £5.000 to do the surgery from some youtue show. If you know the price, let me know. I’d be greateful. Thanks.

I had laser eye surgery in Niagara Falls, canada at Lasik Provision. My surgery was about 12 years ago and my vision is 20/20 to date. This procedure changed my life! I can’t recommend this procedure enough and I hope that you cangive yourself the gift of sight. In the UK I would highly recommend The London vision clinic and have Dr. Dan Reinstein do your surgery. He is a great surgeon and he has such a good repuation in the UK. He has done many procedures and is always doing clinical studies and research. I hope this helps and if you have any further questions about the process of the surgery please contact me. If you even come to Niagara Falls I would highly recommend Dr. Andrew Taylor. He is golden in my books.

I have contacts, but they’re giving me hell every morning and I refuse to wear glasses-I don’t even like wearing sunglasses. It’s not a shallow thing. I know there’s always laser eye surgery, but I’d really rather not. Does anyone know a way to improve eyesight? Or better yet, can anyone give me some tips on why my contacts won’t go in and always stick to my fingers?

First of all, if the lenses are sticking to your fingers and not to the eyes, the finger(s) are probably too wet and/or the edge of the lens is making contact with your finger. As you take the lens out of its case, it should look, as seen from the side, as if you have a bowl on top of the finger. Again, if the edge is touching the finger, it will not stick to the eye. As for the alternatives to Lasik, there are quite a few possible alternative surgical procedures that can achieve the same result, and your eye doctor can tell you which one would work best for your particular situation. It is always a good idea to have one pair of eyeglasses in your prescription for those times that contacts do not want to play with you. The good thing is that nowadays glasses are much better looking, better fitting and much more comfortable than they used to be before. I hope this helps
