fycouple, well, my Mom is a Medical Technologist, and after seeing all these YouTube Lasik Horror stories, I was very concerned post-op. She went to the hospital and has talked to everyone there concerned with eye-surgery. Come to find out these occurrences or aberrations are extremely rare in the vision of LASIK patients post-op. She even talked to the guy who INVENTED the Excimer laser. All in all, they all gave a thumbs up to LASIK - especially today in 2008. 15 years ago? No way.

Please educate yourself on the difference between PRK and LASIK. LASIK creates a permanent FLAP that NEVER heals and leaves the cornea scarred for life, while PRK is a surface laser ablation to reshape the cornea. Had I known what I now know, I would have never had LASIK or PRK, and stuck it out with Extreme H2o contacts. The FDA called an emergency meeting last month: Youtube: FDA LASIK and listen to the horror stories. About 1,000,000 Americans have had their lives ruined from LASIK!!

Sure! The procedure may last for ten minutes and cost you on the order of $3K, but if you had a REALLY good doctor, the visit to get your eyes fixed was NOT the first time you sat in one of his/her chairs! Come on, people! Lasik is GREAT! My corneas were too thin for the doctor to utilize pure lasik so he had to PRK me. This is an “older” version of lasik, and the recovery took longer. This happened five years ago, and my eyes are great! There is nothing wrong with lasik!

I had Lasik eye surgery in March of 2006 and love being free of glasses and contacts. I had no problems what so ever! Sorry there are so many stories out there where people have been badly effected.

LASIK may be more advanced with software updates but it is still unpredictable. Creating a life long FLAP that NEVER heals is being sold like buying bubble gum. Idiot patients are trusting sales doctors, Lying LASIK doctors, to slash the eye with a flap causing permanent damages, accelerating the aging process of the eye, some are going blind, many are ruined for life and dumped out on the curb by the doctor they trusted, and left without no cure. If 10,000,000 Americans have had LASIk and the FDA says there is a 5% dissatisfaction rate, that equates to 500,000 Americans being hurt. A much higher number than the 142 currently being reported. See what I mean about the Lies? I think the true number of eyes hurt is more like 25% of all eyes over a 10 year period. Remember, the FLAP never heals. Lasik is causing teen and young suicides. The Lying Lasik Drs are NOT telling patients this, as the industry would CRUMBLE. The bottom line, is before you decide on Lasik, check PRK, ORTHO K, and/or stick with NOT creating a PERMANENT FLAP THAT NEVER HEALS AND IS PLAGUED WITH PROBLEMS FOR ETERNITY. Stick with contacts and glasses. The industry isn’t making enough money on these, so they come out with SURGERIES to try to trick you, and then you spend more money ongoinng…You’ve been warned!
