LASIK surgery has changed during its brief history as a recognized and wisely-practiced technique. The excimer laser allows a LASIK surgeon to reshape the cornea by removing small amounts of corneal tissue. Wavefront-guided LASIK allows the LASIK eye surgeon to capture the patient’s eye’s unique “footprint” and transpose it over the laser treatment, enabling the surgeon to create a custom LASIK plan to optimize the resulting vision.
